![]() Born in Hempstead NY, Bryan Maurice took to acting at an early age. Telling his grandparents about his aspiring dreams they started him out in musical theater at the age of 10. Landing roles as Daddy Warbucks in Annie and Benny in Rent, Maurice's love for acting grew. Maurice would act sparingly throughout the years sticking with theater well into high school, with plays such as The Wizard of OZ and Fiddler On The Roof. Earning a football scholarship to Hofstra University, Maurice put acting on hold to pursue college. After an injury ended his football career and scholarship, Maurice entered the U.S. NAVY following in the footsteps of his grandparents who are Air Force veterans. Again, with an injury (heart condition) ending his NAVY tenure, Maurice moved to Portland, OR in 2008 to start a new life. Never having lost his love for acting and writing, Maurice started on his first screenplay and in 2012 landed a role as the Stand-In for Aldis Hodge on the final season of TNT's 'Leverage'. Learning from one of the best in the business, Maurice honed his craft and in 2015 reemerged to start the #MauriceMovement and landed roles in the feature film Unshattered and three short films - Work Hard, Y2K2000 and Press Start. In 2016, with the #MauriceMovement taking off in a huge way, Maurice landed several more roles including a leading role in the upcoming films Haze, The Fear of the Bottom (where he met Tristan David Luciotti) and Planetars Masters Of The Elementus. 1. In what ways are you and the character Paul similar? Paul and I are similar in our love for good fashion (I love a nice tie) and passion. I like that he was in a marriage longing for more out of life (better actually). Not to mention, I'm always the responsible friend. 2. Which episode of Adventures in #Adulting do you feel will appeal the most to audiences? Episode 3 because it features me heavily! (kidding). I think that Episodes 6 and 8 will appeal. Episode 6 because it centers around woman/dating/love and Episode 8 because...who doesn't love a good party (equipped with sexy costumes). 3. What is your favorite 90's movie? My favorite 90's movie was and still is Good Burger - "Welcome to Good Burger home of the Good Burger, can I take your order?" It had everything - comedy...good plot...not to mention, the leads were two of the biggest African-American stars at the time...plus, Sinbad with an Afro wig!! 4. Which full album from the 90's would be the first you'd add to a playlist? Ok, so I'm torn. I love 3 genres Hip-hop/Rock/Pop. From the 90's Redman's "What? Thee Album" from 1991 and B.I.G "Life after Death" are still in my playlist..."The Razors Edge" by AC/DC is one of my faves with "Thunderstruck" and Backstreet Boys " Millennium." But to answer the question (sorry) FIRST full album is "Life After Death." 5. What do you think will happen with Paul and Heather in the series? Haha ok so this is a loaded question (I know what happens...at least I think I do). I think that Paul will realize that while he loves Heather, they are just too different. Not only in age, but in what they want. Paul seems to want to be "one of the guys" but can never quite fit in. In order to achieve goals, changes must be made. 6. What brought you to Portland, Oregon? Before I was discharged from the Navy, I served with a few people from here. They talked it up so much so I decided to visit. I came for a weekend and went back home (Baltimore) and did this twice more. I got a job and an apartment lined up and then moved out here and haven't looked back. Been here since 2008 and it's been quite a ride! 7. In Portland, name your favorite place to grab some grub? Ok so I LOVE food!! Any of the food carts are great The Fishbox is a great one on SE Belmont St. They have a great Salmon Taco...spicy and just amazing! However, my favorite place to eat is "Reo's Ribs" near Hollywood transit center. Owned and operated by Snoop Dogg's Uncle Reo, it has some of the best soul food you will ever eat. The $6 catfish burger deal is great. You're making me hungry as we speak... 8. Who is the one actor/actress you'd love to work with? The one actor I want to work with is Kel Mitchell (I know it's a weird pick). Not only was he one half of the best duo on earth (Kenan & Kel), but he is funny humble and a damn good actor. He's so underrated (like me) and has never really gotten a fair shot. He's wild..crazy..and can dance! He's also one of the reasons that I started to preform. I would love to share some screen time with him and watch him do his thing! 9. Which of the 7 deadly sins are you most guilty of? I'll say (as will everyone else) that I'm guilty of Superbia (pride, hubris). I strive to be the best in everything that I do, which can cause me to come off as a bit pious. I just think very highly of myself, I mean, if I don't think I'm great who else is going too? (I'm kidding) I try to stay humble and always give thanks for everything that happens in my life. (I've said thanks for the role in this show correct?)...Good! 10. Why should people watch Adventures in #Adulting? Well, if you love "friends" and "happy endings" you will love this series. Not only do you get an extensive look at Portland, but you get all of your favorite 90's memories. Also there is a VERY diverse cast (minorities & women & LGBTQ), it's a fresh take on all of your favorite moments, songs and quips from the 90's. Not to forget, but it does star yours truly #MauriceMovement (haha), in all honesty, it's a great cast..great script..just a great little show that we have here!
